Epidemiology of Breast Cancer in Nineveh Province of Iraq: A retrospective Study

Background: For thirty years, breast cancer has been the leading cause of mortality of women in Iraq, and it is now a significant public health issue.
Objective: Finding out the prevalence of breast cancer among women throughout Iraq over 10 years beginning in was the goal of the study (2011 to 2020).
Material and Methods: The current research was conducted entirely retrospectively. The Iraqi Ministry of Health and Environment's records were used to perform this epidemiological study. The researcher followed up on all the records files in the department, and samples were gathered for a full month at the Nineveh Health Department (public sector) over a ten-year period. The study's time frame runs from January 1st to February 1st, 2023. The Iraqi Nineveh Health Direction's review ethical committee gave its approval to this study.
Results: According to the study's findings, women between the ages of 40 and 49 were the most commonly affected by breast cancer in Mosul (43.40%), and the majority of them did not have any close family members who had the disease.
Conclusions: This study concluded that the indicate that in 2019 Iraqi women residing in Nineveh now have a higher prevalence of breast cancer, among the age group of (40-49) has the highest incidence rate of its between other age years.
